Ingredients :
Basmathi rice: 2 cups
Cat Fish : 4 pieces
Onions : 1 medium
Green Chilies : 2 to 3
ginger garlic paste : 1 tbs
Coconut milk : 1/2 cup
Red chili powder : 1 tbs
Turmeric powder: pinch
Coriander powder : 1 tbs
Bay leaf : 1
Fennugreek seeds : crushed into powder 1/2 tbs
Preparation :
Soak basmathi rice for 30 min.
In a bowl mix chili powder , salt , coriander powder turmeric powder along with fish. Marinate it for 30 min.
In a pan add oil. when oil heats up fry marinated fish on both sides. (fry 3 - 4 min on medium flame)
Remove fish in a bowl . keep it aside.
In same pan add onions . when onions are fried add ginger garlic paste fry for a min and fennugreek seeds fry for half min and then add coconut milk and fish to pan. fry for 10 min in medium flame and remove.If fish is still raw no problem. further we make it cook fully. keep it aside.
Drain rice and add 3 1/2 cups of water.
In another pan add oil . when oil heated add bay leaf , Cinnamon , cumin seeds to pan. now add this mixture (fried bay leaf , cumin and cinnamon ) to rice .
Now cook basmathi rice . don't cook it fully .cook it up to 70% done.
Now take fish gravy pan , add 70% cooked rice on the top of the fish gravy. don't mix it . Fish should be on bottom and rice should be on top. Just like layers.
Colse the lid and cook for 15 min on low flame.
After done place in a bowl. Be careful fish may cut into pieces.
Serve it with raita...........
